Mathilda as an Indian Girl
Acrylic on canvas
150 x 100 cm
About this painting:
This portrait shows my daughter in a powerful, symbol-laden depiction as an “Indian Girl.” The red feather headdress – traditionally a sign of strength and spiritual connection – meets a modern, graphic background in shades of pink and red, composed of countless dots that give the painting rhythm and depth.
Above her head, a white dove symbolizes peace and hope – a quiet contrast to the direct, almost defiant gaze of the young woman.
This piece was created after my daughter survived a severe accident. For me, it stands for life – for her incredible strength, her will to survive, and the courage to move forward. It’s a deeply personal work that brings together femininity, resilience, and inner peace.
